CRM Software & Salesforce.com

There is no shortage of analysis for Salesforce.com. However, almost all the Salesforce.com reviews are biased or just poorly performed. But to our pleasant surprise we did uncover one very excellent Salesforce.com review at buscocrm.com, but it is in Spanish, so some translation may be necessary.

Salesforce.com is a manufacturer of enterprise software systems delivered via the cloud or software-as-a-service deployment model. The company's primary software product is an online customer relationship management (CRM) system designed for businesses of all sizes and industries. Salesforce.com also makes a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) application called Force.com and manages an online app store of integrated third party solutions referred to as AppExchange. Salesforce markets its CRM software and PaaS solutions to businesses on a subscription (rental) basis, primarily through the direct sales and to a lesser extent indirectly through a business partner channel.

Salesforce is a pioneer for the SaaS CRM movement. The company did not deliver the first SaaS CRM solution, but was the first to achieve sky-rocketing growth. Salesforce was founded in 1999 in San Francisco, and the company has since become the market leader that other SaaS CRM manufacturers seek to challenge. Because of its growing size, it no longer leads the market in terms of revenue growth, however, in absolute volume of SaaS CRM revenues, customers and user subscriptions the company is the clear SaaS CRM industry leader.

Salesforce has been transitioning from a best of breed sales force automation (SFA) software provider to an application development platform as a service (PaaS) company. The SaaS solution company leads the combined SaaS and PaaS markets with a unified offering that offers a SaaS CRM application, an online store (AppExchange) of integrated third party programs and a suite of software development tools and technologies. Salesforce.com has been markedly successful in both strategy and execution for over a decade. Most recently, the company has altered its branding from being a cloud company to being a social company.
